LS6 intake and off to the track we go ...                                                             ... January 13, 2007

A friend of mine with a very powerful Z06 upgraded to a FAST intake, and was kind enough to give me his old LS6 intake. I was thrilled, as it was an unexpected bonus. I first installed it on the vette, but then decided I wanted it for the formula. Installing the intake manifold on an f-body isn't bad, but things are a little tight. Whenever I post on a public forum about it, I caution folks about breaking the oil pressure sending unit. And what did I do? Break the oil pressure sending unit. I tried to kick myself in the ass but it is very flat so my heel barely reached. $45 and a day later, I had a shiny new sending unit though...

I noticed a slight difference driving around town, and man did the difference show at the track. I knew that the intake was a good mod, but on prior cars had installed it with another mod, so I never knew exactly how much it helped. On my formula, it was good for two tenths in the 1/8th mile.

Current modifications 1/13/07:  LS6 intake, PCMforless tune, and muffler.

I'm not sure why the date says the 12th, as track days are always Saturday. This time I also left 32 psi in my rear tires (regular street tires) instead of airing down to 25 psi as I did the week before. I think it definitely helped me leave a little harder. I was also slightly more awake on the tree this time. So, a new best of 8.39 @ 85.4 mph, up .2 tenths and 2 mph from last week.
